“I remember it being quite hot. We were in the backyard of our cottage house and the rain was really coming down that morning,” he said.

The family had left the home early to catch up and then later returned to see what had gone wrong.

“It was one of those events where all hell broke loose and everyone took off, but that was a big miss,” Mr Muhamed said.

He continued: “There were two dogs and one of the dogs had been sprayed in the face.”

Mr Muhamed said the family had been out for more than 30 years with the exception of two trips to visit their family in Turkey.

“So the idea that you can be sprayed with pepper spray is really pretty unusual,” Mr Muhamed said.
